How do I convert a PDF to black and white?
Drop the PDF above. Black & white is switched on, so all photos and scans become grayscale. To also convert colored text, charts and shapes, choose Maximum mode, which renders each full page in grayscale.
Does black and white make a PDF smaller?
Usually yes. Grayscale images carry less color information and compress better, so photo-heavy documents often shrink noticeably on top of normal compression.
Will text stay sharp in black and white?
In Smart mode text is not touched at all, so it stays perfectly sharp. In Maximum mode pages are rendered as images, so pick a larger target for the crispest text.
